To adjust the portion size of a meal you are creating, follow these instructions:
- Search the database for the ingredients, select e.g. 100g or whatever portion you wish
- Once selected use the drop down menu to adjust the portion to half portion or quarter portion
- To further customise the portion size select ‘custom’. For example, to change a 100g portion to 30g, select ‘custom’, then 0.30
- Repeat for each ingredient you add
- If you have created large batches of your own meals, you can adjust the portion size once you add the meal to your planner. All meals and ingredients you create are automatically saved in the ‘saved’ tab
To adjust the portion sizes of The Fitness Chef recipes follow these instructions:
- Choose a recipe
- Add it to your meal planner
- Use the drop down menu to adjust portion sizes as you wish
You can browse the recipes by tapping the ‘recipes icon’ , then select a recipe & add to to the day & meal time of your choice
Go to ‘planner’, on your dashboard or the bottom menu on your screen. Then select ‘add food’ or scroll to ‘add meal’. Now enter the meal name and ingredients. These meals will be automatically saved and added to your planner
Each time you create a new meal it will be stored in your saved tab where you can re-add it to your planner at any time
Go to ‘recipes’ and scroll down to the ‘new’ category to find newly added recipes
You can do this on the planner. Switch between days on the calendar to add meals to previous days, or to plan ahead by adding meals in advance
This can be found at the top of your screen. You can switch between daily or weekly tracking and see how many calories you have remaining each day/week to reach your target
Make sure you have selected the correct food database – you can choose between the UK or USA database in ‘settings’
If you are accessing the UK or USA database and can’t find an item please email support@fitnesschef.uk with product details/ screenshots and we will add it to the database for you!
If you live in the UK or USA you can access over a million branded foods.
The food database also contains over 10,000 generic items such as, fruit, vegetables, potatoes, meat, poultry, fish, nuts, yogurt, chocolate and many more. These can be used worldwide along with any UK or USA brands that are available in your country.
Bare in mind that sometimes brands update their nutrition data and there may be a delay before the database catches up with a small number of items.
In the rare event the barcode scanner shows inaccurate information, please email support@fitnesschef.uk with screenshots and the correct information from the packet. From here we can get this updated for you.
If your scanned item shows an incorrect product on the app, please email the address above and it will be rectified for you as soon as possible.

At the beginning, calorie and protein adherence should be the main focus for any goal to lose, maintain or gain weight – there is a plethora of research to support this. The amount of carbs and fats you choose to make up the rest of your calorie target doesn’t matter. Do as you please. See this article for a further explanation. https://www.fitnesschef.uk/why-low-carb-is-not-best-for-fat-loss/
If you wish to set custom targets, you can do so by tapping the top right icon, then ‘settings’. Then tick the circle that says ‘I want to set my own targets’. Enter custom targets, then scroll down and tap ‘update’
Tap your profile icon at the top right of your screen, then ‘edit profile’, then ‘change payment method’
Tap on the profile icon on the top right of your screen, then ‘edit profile’, then toggle to ‘account’ and scroll to ‘cancel subscription
This means your bank requires you to authenticate your payment. This can be done by tapping the notification or by clicking the link in the email we send you (remember to check your junk folder)
